Perfect symbiosis: car park construction with system and architectural design freedom

In modern urban planning and architecture, the combination of functionality and aesthetics plays a decisive role. In the unit of multi-storey car park construction in particular, we impressively demonstrate how systematised construction methods and architectural design freedom form a perfect symbiosis.

We regularly work with independent architectural firms and partners on new build and revitalisation projects. These collaborations provide exciting impetus, lead to success in tenders and competitions and show how quickly, sustainably and economically inspiring architecture can be realised with the GOLDBECK principle. We work with our experienced freelance colleagues on an equal footing and integrate architects throughout the entire planning process. A good example of this is the Schüco multi-storey car park in Bielefeld.

Schüco multi-storey car parks: design meets function

The unusual design of the multi-storey car park is an absolute eye-catcher: the FACID fabric wraps around the simple cube of the car park like a shimmering cocoon. The special feature of the facade lies in the realisation of the 3D effect. The individual twisting of the partial surfaces creates two- and three-dimensionally mouldable flats. During the day, the column-free car park decks are bright and flooded with light; the transparent fabric allows good ventilation with an unrestricted view from the inside to the outside. As soon as it gets dark, accentuated lighting on the facade and motion-dependent interior lighting provide creative lighting effects.

The architectural eye-catcher has around 740 parking spaces on eight levels and offers employees the opportunity to charge their electric cars. The multi-storey car park was completed in just under eleven months.

Successful cooperation with architectural firms

Shaping the future of construction together

Close cooperation with specialised partners has resulted in a modern, functional multi-storey car park that meets the highest architectural standards. The facade was realised by Schüco and Schlattmeier Architekten, in cooperation with 3XN Architects from Copenhagen. The entire design and turnkey realisation of the multi-storey car park was carried out by GOLDBECK using a systematised construction method. As a Turn-Key-Contractor with many years of experience, we have extensive technical expertise and can keep an eye on various specifications and regulations, so Schüco benefited from a high degree of design freedom with secure construction costs and sustainable, technical feasibility. The dialogue during the collaboration was transparent and productive. The GOLDBECK team also advised Schüco on the facade design. "A partnership of equals in which everyone involved was able to grow together," summarises Jochen Strellmann, Head of Project Work North at Schüco.

Systematised construction: Efficiency and flexibility

At GOLDBECK, systematic modular construction with a system means: the visible is individualised, the invisible is systematised. Essential system components are industrially precast in our own plants. They are assembled into turnkey buildings on the construction site.

Our construction method is characterised by efficiency and flexibility. At the same time, it enables fast and cost-efficient realisation of construction projects of the highest quality and offers a high degree of creative design options for architects and employers. A filigree supporting structure made of steel and concrete elements ensures an open design with column-free parking areas. This results in bright and user-friendly multi-storey car parks that are not only architecturally appealing, but also provide a high sense of security thanks to their transparency and intuitive orientation.

1/3  Architecture

Architectural design freedom: individual façade diversity

From purely functional to architectural highlights: colours, shapes and materials make every multi-storey car park unmistakable. The facade offers plenty of scope for individual design options and creative architecture. However, requirements in terms of sound insulation, glare and fire protection or in urban development also influence the choice of a suitable facade. With an efficient team of in-house and freelance architects, we developed an attractive and economical solution that meets the customer's specifications and requirements. After all, the facade is the face of the multi-storey car park - it shows personality and creates individuality.

Eye-catcher: public multi-storey car parks staircases

Design freedom for staircases

Park, get out, be a pedestrian. Short distances and comfort are required. Whether purely functional and economical or individually designed, whether open or with cladding, with or without a lift - GOLDBECK staircases offer the greatest possible design freedom thanks to their modular construction and are bright and attractively designed. Architecturally staged, entrance areas and staircases become eye-catchers and act as a calling card for the multi-storey car park.

Conclusion
Systematised construction and architectural freedom can be combined

The Schüco multi-storey car park shows that systematised construction and architectural design freedom are not opposites, but complement each other perfectly. The car park system from GOLDBECK not only offers maximum functional flexibility and efficiency, but also unlimited creative possibilities for creating aesthetically pleasing and sustainable mobility hubs.
