GOLDBECK and Mortenson Establish Joint Venture for Serial, Systemized Construction in the US Market
Bielefeld, Minneapolis. GOLDBECK is entering the US market following an in-depth market analysis. The joint venture draws on the expertise of more than 24,000 employees across both companies. Customers will benefit from the combination of GOLDBECK’s know-how in serial, systemized construction and Mortenson’s market knowledge, national scale and project delivery.
Building and Growing with a Systemized Approach in the USA
“Our experience in serial, systemized construction gives us a clear competitive advantage. In this form, our business model is unique in the United States,” says Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck, Co-CEO of GOLDBECK. Through its systemized approach to construction, the company consistently applies industrial principles to the building sector. GOLDBECK’s scalable method is based on a proven construction system that combines pre-engineered systemized solutions, digital planning and control processes, and an integrated value chain. Design, procurement, construction and operation work seamlessly together, enabling buildings to be delivered quickly, cost-effectively and to a high standard of quality. “The US market offers enormous potential for our logic of construction. Together with Mortenson, we want to establish the strengths of systemized construction in the United States and continue driving our growth,” adds Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck.
Silicon Valley Network Supports International Expansion
Since its founding in 1954, Mortenson has delivered numerous high-profile and innovative construction projects across the United States, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. The company is one of the largest privately held construction firms in the country.
The connection between the two companies originated through GOLDBECK’s presence in Silicon Valley since 2019 and its involvement in the innovation network of Stanford University’s CIFE Institute, one of the leading centers of expertise for industrialized construction in the United States.
“It is remarkable when two highly capable and different companies combine their strengths to create something new and exceptional in the large US market, leveraging AI and automation as the foundation,” says Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck.
Shared Values as the Foundation for Economic Success
Alongside their economic ambitions, both companies share a common set of values. “As family-owned businesses, we are united by values such as a pioneering spirit, innovation, trust and humanity. They provide the ideal foundation for creating future-ready buildings for people across the United States,” says Derek Cunz, President and CEO of Mortenson.
